Nichele Progetti sas has industrialised and patented a composite material for roofing.
The product obtained from the mould unites mechanical performance and good resistance to atmospheric agents and optimum thermal and acoustical insulation.
The different density of the material with respect to the traditional “roof tile” solution also makes the roof considerably lighter in weight.
This product is made from composite material; in the natural state it is a humid mass, capable of providing effective thermal insulation for the underlying structure for a wide range of temperatures, from the most rigid winter temperatures to the highest summer temperatures. This ROOF TILE provides considerably superior thermal and acoustical insulation with respect to traditional products, so the greater cost of the product is compensated for by considerable savings in the thickness of the roof, due to the use of less insulating material. Additionally, it stands up to hail and people walking on the roof; it is extremely light in weight; it is indestructible. This aspect is important for safety in the even of collapse.
Another advantage of this application is ventilation, which ensures that the roof maintains a very low level of humidity and considerable savings in installation.
Thermal characteristics
- The graphs show how a roof with composite tiles has a total thermal transmission almost identical to the thermal transmission of a roof with the classical type of tile
- Composite tiles have the following advantages:
- reduction of thickness by about 3 cm
- savings due to the fact that there is no need to purchase and install 4 cm thick wooden beams or the bed in earthenware tiles.
- The total transmission of the structure complies with the requirements of the Italian DM 311 dated 29 Dec. 2006, which calls for the F zone to have a transmittal coefficient of less than 0.29 W/M2k, foreseen for 2010.
